Here is my personal account that I experienced first-hand. I responded with this to the other person who had been victimized several posts below. It has been happening much more often now with the holiday rush past us and all:
That happened to me two weeks ago. Except it was the other way around. I had just finished scanning and loading my packages in the car. It was a 3-hour with 37 packages. After I finished arranging the last of the packages (so that Icould even close the trunk since all of my packages were medium and large packages)… I turned around and my cart (which was empty when I turned my back to load the final 3 packages in the trunk… literally 45 seconds my back was turned away from the cart. I turned around to the cart with the intention of rolling the empty cart to the designated are to put empty carts.
The I immediately see 12 packages in there that weren’t there 45 seconds before. I was stunned. I immediately recognized this as a “package dump” (Which I had heard about in the past from other flex drivers, saw clues that it was a real thing, and now directly was victimized by). It’s not a rumor folks.
It is a ruthless act where another driver “dumps” packages in another driver’s cart AND app/route so that they don’t have to deliver them and the other unwitting driver is stuck with them.
After I saw what happened with the extra packages mysteriously appearing my cart – I felt queezy and lightheaded. I had a funny feeling what just happened and I was terrified.
I slowly picked up my phone which already had my route all mapped out and scheduled had already been set and finalized. I slowly picked it up with sense of foreboding trepidation. I was terrified. I suspected what had happened and sure enough – the wheel on my app was turning. Lo and behold… it updated and there were 12 more packages on my route. Apparently there are some drivers who know some kind of hacking maneuver so they can unload packages from their app to another drivers route just by walking past them.
Please see my other post on how I found out these scoundrels are getting away with this.
