I recently started to do Amazon flex again after I had gotten into an accident and my car was in the shop for more than a month. I accepted a 5 hour block for $100 as there were no surges in my area and this was the norm and I was fine with getting $20 an hour. The new warehouse sent me like 30 miles away which I also didn’t mind that much since I’m in this area often for vet visits and thought it would be like my previous blocks were I could finish in like 3 hrs.
Everything that went wrong in this block, basically did. I had multiple customers not provide their gate code to gain access, and for a lot of these customers, they were in areas with no cell reception so I could not contact support until I found an area with signal. And if they did respond, they would tell me there was no need for a gate code but I was clearly being stopped by a gate with no signs of where delivery drivers could enter from and would most likely need a code again. The stops were very far from each other (about 5 minutes at minimum apart) and I had like 40 stops. Multiple customers lived in rural areas and farmland, almost got stuck in the mud and support wasn’t helpful in that situation. I had to take back about 8 packages.
I contacted support about requesting extra pay and they gave me $10. All the other times I’ve requested an adjustment, I would get a minimum of $20 an hour. I barely started working for Amazon Flex in November.
