“Excessive Speeding Violations”

I’m a driver in California and deliver in the Antelope Valley. I’ve been given a route where it’s usually residential homes, but occasionally I’ll have stops in rural areas about 20-30 mins away. It’s a route I’ve done many times and have consistently been able to do myself, but one day it seemed like it wasn’t going to be the case. 187 stops, around 300 packages, Wave 2. First 39 stops are rural and the rest are residential. My first stop is 30-35 min away and I’m in Wave 2, leaving the station around 10 am. The speed limit is 55 -60 mph and I’m going 71 mph max. I’ve speeded before, but not to the point where I’m exceeding a dangerous mph rate. After having done my first few stops, Flex notifys me of my behavior and I agree to the “notification”. I get a call from Dispatch saying how I was going over too much and to be careful going over. I get to my first stop around 10:30 am and finish my first 39 stops around 12:45 pm. I get a call for a “rescue” because the way my route was designed, it seemed like I’m behind around 25-30 stops. I usually take lunch by 1:30 pm and felt confident in continuing and knocking out half maybe 15 stops max. After I was done with all my rural stops, I had to wait for a driver to rescue me and take 30 stops. I had about 120 stops left, which is doable, but was I in the wrong for wanting to finish my route optimally? I understand that on-the road “safety” is a valid concern and that there are metrics/guidelines that I can’t always adhere to, but I felt like I was on good pace and had to surrender to the rescue despite my efforts. This morning, I received a message from one of my bosses saying that I have to complete a training course on KNET for speeding and to finish it by the end of my shift tomorrow. Is this just a slap on the wrist or a fireable offense?
