Hi!
I have a question for drivers. I ordered a valuable package two weeks ago that was supposed to be delivered with a one-time password. On the day the driver was scheduled to deliver, I received the password but I was in class and unable to provide it. I was told that the delivery would be reattempted the next day, but I was out of town for a sports game and assumed the delivery would be made once I was back and able to provide the password. However, while gone, I received a notification that the package had been delivered to a receptionist, which was confusing as I don’t live in a place with a reception desk. When I got back, I couldn’t find the package anywhere. I informed Amazon of the missing package and was told to file a police report to get a refund. I did this, but two weeks later once I was notified the investigation of my package was closed by police, I was informed by Amazon that I was no longer eligible for a refund because the one-time password was given to the delivery driver, which I was never told about originally. I’m confused about how the driver was able to deliver the package without the password. I did not give the password to anyone else, so it is impossible for the password to have been given to the driver.
Is it possible for a driver to bypass the one-time password if they deliver to a receptionist? Does anyone have any potential clarity or advice on this situation? I am in college so losing a package this valuable is a pretty significant loss to me. Thanks.
