We have a few amazon dispatch centers neighboring each-other with about 5-6 companies at each one. Mine is the “ top performing” at the center I work at which sucks. I have friends at other companies who get paid more for less work, have 50 less stops then I do, rescue pay, incentives, ect. They have time to take their 15 minute breaks. My mom works for a dispatch center too and referred me to a separate company at one of the neighbor centers who’s top rated by the drivers. I’m considering interviewing and seeing if I can switch but I’m not sure how to explain why I’m leaving. My company doesn’t treat us bad but I kinda feel micro managed. I can’t fall behind 10 minutes without having to explain why or constantly get videos if I do any infractions like eating a rice krispy bar while driving “being unsafe” or small 5mph over posted limit infractions. I also get wrote up if my fico drops below 800 even if it’s caused by the team doing bad overall and bringing the team score down or if I arrive at 9:40 on the dot – when we need to be there. Small things that add up. Especially when I can’t stop to use the bathroom because if I don’t have 25 or less by 6, despite being supposed to be delivering until 8, and if you get rescued to many times they write you up, or take your routes and hours away. We have to clock out for lunch even if we don’t take it or they’ll write us up or change it themselves.
I’ve had a few times where I completely lost my shit during my route because I was so overwhelmed with the volume and heat and I had asked for help and was told none was available. I almost passed out that day. I also got very heat sick.
Team wise most everyone is fantastic. My dispatch is nice and tries, and my coworkers are usually fun to talk with. I had one experience with a guy throwing my drive bag across the parking lot however. I made a joke about tossing it to him while he was distracted and said “ he would have just let that fall haha” then placed it in his hands because I thought he was the one collecting them. He was standing where the collector usually did. And I caused him to drop his phone which understandably would of upset anyone. But not to the point of screaming how it was 9k and throwing my drive bag across the lot.
We also got told our dsp owner had a management advisor telling him not to give us attainable incentives or higher pay because the turnover rate is worth the profit. I’m unsure if that’s true but given the circumstances….
So I have a few reasons to go somewhere better, but I’m not sure if they’re justifiable or if the new dsp will look into my old one or if it’s worth leaving or how to say I’m quitting for another dsp.
