There Should Be No Such Thing As “Mandatory” Rescues.

I know not all DSPs require them, but mine does. DSPs should hire dedicated extras/specific rescue drivers whose role is to sit at the station and pick up rescues when prompted, and not us drivers.

I’m the fastest driver at my DSP, only because we get guaranteed 10 hours, so I want to be fast and get done early. But I’m always just clowning myself because they ALWAYS make me do 2-3 rescues a shift.

(For context, it takes me 35 minutes to drive to my DSP, then once we’re on the road it takes an hour one way to reach the city we deliver for, so I spend 3 hours each shift just DRIVING and not delivering) Just today I got to my first stop at 11:50am, and did all 160 stops by 4pm, always think to myself (Sweet, I can get home early) But then dispatch calls me and has me rescue like 3 different drivers, and instead I get home at 9pm. This happens all the damn time and despite having a “10-hour guarantee” what’s the point if I’m going to be working 10+ hours regardless if I want to or not?

I always notice the same 3 names in our time sheet get back around 5:30pm, I’ve never seen them arrive later which makes me think favoritism is in play and they just never give those 3 rescues, and they’re allowed to just get back early. I’m tired of carrying this DSP because my work ethic allows me to be really fast. Reward me by letting me get fuckin’ home early instead of throwing more work on me (one of the drivers I rescued only had 35 more stops to do at 5pm, and I was given TWENTY-FIVE of them)

I need a way out of this, but unfortunately, because of my education, it’s the best-paying job I can get that will pay my rent and bills.

Just a bit of a rant.
