Customer had an intercom which called her mobile on the outside of the gate, this was a big ass house, I’m talking fresh prince style house. Customer says go in and leave the parcel at the front door, she will open the gate for me via her phone. I did so, and when I made the trek back up the drive, I found the gate closed, with my car still running and the door open on the other side.
This was in a very rural area at 9pm.
I tried to call the customer via the Flex app, but the number was unavailable. I called support and they too had no luck. Therefore, they wished me good luck and they left me there.
There was no way to open the gate, or even climb over, as I’m a pretty heavy guy anyway and there were spikes on top of the fencing. After making the rounds around the grounds of the property which felt like the size of fucking Hogwarts several times, I began to accept my fate.
After 45 minutes, just as I had considered calling the nine emergency police line, I heard a dog barking. Luckily there was a dog walker in the distance, and I was able to get their attention to call the customer on the intercom.
Finished my block on time somehow, so I didn’t even get any overtime.
