Alright so this just happened today. I’m in the Promaster and all is going well. I go to this neighborhood that is mostly just dirt and trees. This address (I assume I can’t put it for the customer’s safety) has a giant cylinder shaped object that is in the way of the road to go to take the ADV through. I don’t know if this is the best thing I could have done but I decided to put the package behind the object that’s in my way and take a picture because they are at basically a private road and I can’t go there. Here’s the bad part.
A random man came out of no where between a fence and a shed that was next to me and he begins to tell me “You better not be putting those packages right there”. I’m still concerned on where he came from but I tell him I can’t take the van through this road because of the giant object in the way (smaller cars can go through from what it looked like) his solution was that I can just walk 0.5 Mile or so because I can’t even see the house with all the trees. He starts yelling at me and threatening that he’s going to report me to amazon, but I’m not really worried about that. He then begins calling me lazy for thinking it’s a good idea but I’m telling him I don’t believe so but I can’t just walk over there. He then throws out that he seen 6 other amazon employees last time walking so why can’t I?
I just kept telling him sorry because I’m not gonna argue with a random guy who came out of nowhere in this neighborhood with trees and dirt everywhere (basically the country). He’s repeating “You aren’t going to do that” but I marked it as delivered, apologized and carried on because now he’s starting to worry me and I don’t feel safe in the neighborhood.
Finally, I reverse back and I can SEE him, walking towards me while I’m backing up so I had to skip a house because I no longer felt anymore. Aside from that whole ordeal, I didn’t feel safe walking that long a distance to reach one house because I have no idea if there are dogs or bears in the area, and I’ll just be risking my safety for an envelope and box. If I went, I wouldn’t be able to see the van anymore because I’m far away from jt, which means anyone can just break in and I wouldn’t know unless it’s too late, plus a stranger is right there. If I did see a dog and it was hostile, I wouldn’t be able to reach the van and I would have been attack. Lastly, not only is my van now blocking the area because it’s a one way road but if a car came in or out while I’m walking, who’s to say I won’t get hit? Thankfully my Dispatch agreed and is reporting the situation since the guy said he was going to complain.
