two weeks ago i put in a schedule change request. my current workload is situated near-solely on the days which I have my child. that ensures that, on the days i have him, i never seen him, apart from picking him up from daycare way past his bedtime, taking him home, and laying him down for sleep. i’ve cried on the way to work numerous times about how much I miss my son.

my schedule change was granted, and i was assigned to work six days in a row the following week. it was HR’s way of preparing the schedule change for the following week, promising that it’d be the days that i wanted.

i worked those six days. the new schedule for this week came out, and wouldn’t you reckon? it’s the same as i’ve always been working. there’s no difference. the schedule that ensures i never see my son? still in place. those six days in a row that was meant to align the schedule perfectly to fit my request? only netted me some extra profit, and no other changes.

i am, and have been for the past month, desperately looking for another line of work.
