Question About Inspection Reports And Grounding Vans

I’m really curious to know what grounding a vehicle does, and what the process is to get it ungrounded. I was told when I started not to report anything because it’s hard from them to get it ungrounded, and they would try to fix things on the spot. But I get the feeling my DSP tries to avoid fixing the vans and just shuffles them around to different drivers. And they can fairly easily unground them. A few weeks back I grounded one for tons of issues on my post trip, and it was out on a route the next morning. No way the issues were fixed overnight. And recently I was assigned a van where the sliding door wouldn’t open from the inside. Not a huge deal, but very annoying because my DSP keeps us in the same van for the week. I was told by another driver that he had that van last week and was bitching about the door. I got assigned the same van this week as well, so I decided to report the door issue post trip which grounded the van. I was off yesterday so today will be my first day back since grounding. I’m sure its not fixed and they’ll just assign to someone else.

How often do you report issues in your inspections? And has your DSP ever gotten mad at you for grounding a van?
