So I’ve been doing flex part time for 6 years and I’ve never had a situation like what happened today. I do need some advice or input.
Picked up all my packages for a 3.5 hour block. The first stop is twenty miles away and everything is fairly close together. All houses, no problem.
As I’m driving I see the app do a little update, but didn’t think much of it.
As I’m nearing my final 5 stops…I count my packages and notice I have six. I have them all up in front seat in order. Maybe someone has two deliveries, so I check while I’m at a red light. Nope, only one per address. At that point I figured I had an extra envelope. I input the address, only a couple blocks from the last stop. So I go to manually add the package into my route but there’s no option to do so. I called “support” and they told me there was a cancellation on the customers side at the last minute, so I’d have to bring the package back to the warehouse.
My block was scheduled to end at 6pm, and I dropped the last package off at 545. With traffic (Chicago suburbs) it was gonna take about an hour to get back to the SSD. Sure enough, I arrived at around 6:40 and returned it with no problem.
Support said they’d submit a ticket for compensation for the additional 40 minutes since I had to return the box and the situation was out of my control, but I don’t have a lot of faith in them or that I will be paid for the extra time.
Has anyone gone through something similar? Should I email them as well, or just wait for them to contact me first? I’m not gonna have an an aneurysm over $20-$30 extra, and I had to go that way anyways…but what do you think?
