Ordering Large Bulk Items

Is it culture in the USA to buy huge amounts of stuff online? I’ve been seeing pictures here of a mountain of boxes at someone’s house, 10+ overflow packages etc. I’ve been delivering in the UK for over a year and I think the most packages I delivered to one house was 6, and they weren’t even overflow. The most overflow I delivered was 4 large baby-strollers to one house, but they said it was for charity so I wasn’t even mad. Why is it a thing to buy 30 bags of dog food or cases of water and stuff like that, do they not realise delivery drivers have to load and carry them? It’s definitely allowed here, there was one scenario when a business ordered around 40 large boxes of god knows what, and they had to send a separate van for just those packages because there was 0 space.
