Next week will be my last week working at Amazon Flex. The experience was nice; it was wonderful to drive outside the city while listening to a podcast. It was beautiful to see the sunrises/sunsets while driving to my next stop. I remember waking up at 3:00 am almost every day, picking up my 5-hour route, and loading the car as efficiently as possible. But as they say, nothing lasts forever. Since Prime Day, getting a block has become extremely difficult. All the blocks in my area pay $24 an hour, but if I take those, I would end up making about $15 an hour, which is less than the minimum wage in my city. That’s why I’ve decided to say goodbye to Amazon Flex. This post isn’t just another one. With this, I want to motivate you to do something better in your lives. For all these gig economy companies, we’re just a number. One leaves, and the next one comes in. We were all born for something more important than delivering packages or driving people around the city. And I’m not just talking about work. Ask yourself, does this make you happy? It doesn’t make me happy. What makes me happy is nature, morning coffee, traveling, the melody of birds at dawn. I don’t want to continue being a slave to these companies with no real benefits. If you’re in your 20s, please, from the bottom of my heart, give meaning to your life. I started doing Uber because I had to quit a well-paying job and couldn’t find another option. Then Uber plummeted, and I started with Amazon Flex. Now Amazon is no longer sustainable, and I want to give a bigger purpose to my life. I’m 23, and I don’t want to be the man who can’t provide for his family because “work was slow.” I don’t want to see my future children wish for things I can’t give them. I don’t want to tell my wife NO when she says we should go to Paris submitted by /u/Perfect_Run_2615 |
